Volleyball Game Notes No. 8
THIS WEEK: The Otters are back at the Kelp Bed this weekend, hosting Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Oct. 28 and San Francisco State on Saturday, Oct. 29. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
LOOKING AHEAD: After this weekend's games, the Otters will have a busy final last week of homes matches by hosting three in five days. CSUMB takes on the Cal State East Bay Pioneers on Tuesday, Nov. 2 before welcoming Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, Oct. 4 and Chico State on Saturday, Oct. 5.

RECORD BREAKING SEASON: In a span of only one week, senior All-American
Rheann Fall became the CSUMB career record holder in two categories, kills (1,300) and aces (126). Senior middle hitter
Tiffaney Riggs has started her own countdown to breaking a record. She is only 33 block assists away from becoming the new CSUMB block assist career record holder.
NCAA TOP 20: The Otters are 19th in the latest NCAA Division II statistics in digs per set, with a 18.01 average. CSUMB is ranked second in the CCAA behind UC San Diego (19.13).
SCOUTING CAL POLY POMONA: After losing four straight matches, the Broncos (10-11, 7-9 CCAA) won a five-set thriller last Saturday against Cal State Stanislaus. CPP has a very balanced attack with five players registering over 100 kills for the season. Top Players: Karissa Lagmay (144 kills, 196 digs, 20 aces) and Taylr Kreutziger (172 kills, 66 blocks).
SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO STATE: The Gators (12-9, 8-8 CCAA) were victorious last weekend with four-set wins over Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus, moving into the fifth in the CCAA standings. Top Players: Last week's CCAA Player of the Week Halimah Oswald (220 kills, 60 blocks) and Megan Johnson (183 kills, 179 digs, 18 aces)
LAST MEETING AGAINST CPP & SFSU: On one of the toughest road trips of the year, CSUMB was swept by San Francisco State before falling to the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona in four sets.
DIG FOR A CURE NIGHT: Saturday's match against the San Francisco State Gators has been designated “Dig for a Cure” night. Both teams will be wearing pink t-shirts during warm-ups.
