SEASIDE, Calif. -- It's just mid–October, but expect a playoff like atmosphere at the Otter Sports Complex this weekend when first place in the CCAA North Division will be on the line. The Otters enter the week just three points out of first place and will have a chance to make up all of that ground Friday (Oct. 14) when division co–leader Sonoma State visits for a 3 p.m. kickoff. Humboldt State makes its annual trek to Seaside Sunday (Oct. 16) at 11:30 a.m.
“What the players have done in this short time together to be in a position like this speaks volumes to their commitment willingness to buy into our philosophy,” says first year Head Coach
Rob Cummings. “Friday is going to be one of the biggest events that this men's program has played. We're facing a Sonoma team with lots of tradition while we're trying to instill our own tradition. It's games like this that start tradition within a program
“My hope is to have the community embrace what these players are doing,” he continues. “The players have done everything that I have asked of them not only on the field, but in the classroom and in the community as well. I hope the campus and the Monterey Bay community will get behind us for this big weekend.”
The Otters enter the weekend fresh off their second consecutive road win, a 3–1 victory at Cal State East Bay.
