CSUMB Falls To No. 10 Cal State Dominguez Hills

SEASIDE, Calif.
- The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team dropped a 79-70 decision to No. 10 Cal State Dominguez Hills tonight at the Kelp Bed.

The CSUMB sophomore class stepped up big tonight. #Davion Berry# tying a season-high with 25 points on top of dishing out three assists.  #Derrick Anderson# recorded a career-high 15 points and seven rebounds. #Brandon Ward# finished with 12 points and #James Albert# added 10 points.

The Toros held a 40-27 lead at the half time break after shooting 50 percent from the field, 46.2 from beyond the arc.

The Otters trailed by as much as 19 points (53-34) five minutes into the second half, but rallied back with Anderson's 3-pointer and jumpers by Ward, Berry and senior #Warren Freeman# to cut the score to 55-45 in the 13th minute.

CSUMB came within five points on a jumper by Anderson with 2:39 on the clock.  CSUDH's Zareh Zargayan took the ball to the hoop to make it 72-65.  Four straight good free throws gave the Toros a cushion in the final minute.

In the second half, the Otters shot a season-high 54.2 percent (13-for-24) in the second half.  The rebounds were even with 27 apiece.

The Otters being a four-game road trip with their first stop at Humboldt State on Thursday, Jan. 13. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
