UPCOMING GAMES:
The Otters host last-place Cal State East Bay in two doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.  Prior to Saturday's noon doubleheader, the Otters will honor seniors Niki Ames and Jenny Montez in a short ceremony.

PREVIOUS WEEKEND: CSUMB clinched its sixth series victory this past weekend, winning three of four games at UC San Diego.  Junior #Diane Ortiz# was a dominating force on the mound, picking up three victories and recording a .81 earned run average. She blasted teh game-winning two-run homer to give the Otters the first win of the series.  Sophomore # Jamie Moon# and freshman #Angelina Orozco# each had five hits for the series.

CCAA STAT RANKINGS: #
Shae Olds# - 3rd in home runs (8) and 5th in RBI (33) .  #Jenny Montez# - 2nd in walks (29), 8th in runs scored (33) and 5th in triples (2). #Jamie Moon# - 4th in sacrifice bunts (12), 3rd in doubles (12) and 10th in runs scored (31). #Angelina Orozco# - 5th in triples (2). #Diane Ortiz# - 3rd in ERA (1.84), 1st in opposing average (.189), 7th in batters struck out (105), 2nd in batters struck out looking (51) and 4th in wins (14). #Jessica Moon# - 1st in lowest number of runs allowed (28) and 4th in lowest number of earned runs allowed (25).

NCAA STAT RANKINGS: CSUMB is in the top 100 in five categories: 9th in double plays per game (0.5); 59th in earned run average (2.44); 64th in triples per game (0.2); 69th in win-loss percentage (.625); 73rd in fielding percentage (0.96).  #Jenny Montez# is ranked 11th in walks (0.72 per game).  #Jamie Moon# is 51st in sacrifice hits (0.28). #Diane Ortiz# is ranked in top 100 in four categories: 21st in shutouts (5); 39th in hits allowed in seven innings (5.11); 75th in ERA (2.07); 89th in victories (11). #Nicole Garcia# has recorded three sacrifice flies this season, ranking her 26th in the nation. #Lisa Hernandez# is ranked 30th in saves with two on the season.

WEST REGIONAL POLLS: After taking three games against UC San Diego last weekend in La Jolla, the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team returned to the No. 5 spot in this week's NCAA West Region rankings.

THE PIONEERS: Cal State East Bay (12-32, 5-27 CCAA) is on a 13-game losing streak against NCAA Division II opponents. Players to Watch: Nicole Freiberg (.291 BA, 37 H, 11 R, 7 2B, 2 HR); Emily Montanez (.259 BA, 29 H, 14 RBI, 3 2B, 1 HR).



BASEBALL
UPCOMING GAMES:
CSUMB splits a four-game series with San Francisco State. The Gators host the Otters on Friday and Sunday in single, nine-inning games.  CSUMB welcomes SF State to the Otter Baseball Field on Saturday in a doubleheader. Prior to the game, the Otters will honor nine seniors.

PREVIOUS WEEKEND: The Otters took the week off after their Sonoma State was cancelled due to the Seawolves having to make up a rained out conference game.

THE GATORS: San Francisco State (19-27, 11-21 CCAA) split with Cal Poly Pomona last weekend, winning the first two games of the series. Players to Watch: Ryan Williams (.360 BA, 49 H, 10 2B, 6 HR, 21 R); Patrick Haugen (7-3, 2.09 ERA, 2 SHO, 81.2 IP, 19 ER, 98 SO).



WOMEN'S WATER POLO
PREVIOUS WEEKEND: CSUMB fell16-9 at Sonoma State in its final regular season game.

WWPA TOURNAMENT: The Otters will open the Western Water Polo Tournament against Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, April 30 at 9 a.m. at the Hillman Aquatic Center in Bakersfield.
