Briggs Joins Otter Raft To Coordinate Facilities and Events

Former Menlo volleyball athlete comes over from Cal State East Bay

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Otter raft welcomes its newest member with the addition of Abbey Briggs as the events and facilities coordinator. Briggs joins the Otters from Cal State East Bay, where she helped manage events and facilities operations.

Briggs brings with her a wealth of experience in athletics administration, particularly within the CCAA, where she has worked on high-level event coordination, including CCAA and NCAA tournament planning. Her dedication to enhancing the game-day experience for athletes, coaches, staff, and fans is a testament to her commitment to advancing Monterey Bay athletics.

Briggs's journey into athletics administration was inspired by her own experiences as a student-athlete. Having played volleyball at Menlo College, she understands the demands and intricacies of game days from the athlete's perspective. This background has fueled her passion for improving operations and ensuring an exceptional experience for everyone involved. Her career path was sparked by her realization that game operations was a viable career option, which she discovered during her time at Menlo.

Reflecting on her previous role at Cal State East Bay, Briggs highlighted the positive impact her team had on her development and expressed her enthusiasm for continuing her work within the CCAA. She is eager to apply the skills and knowledge she has gained to her new role at CSUMB, striving to make significant contributions to the department's efficiency and success.

"Abbey brings strong experience in coordinating home game operations, including CCAA and NCAA tournament planning," says CSUMB Director of Athletics Kirby Garry. "We were fortunate to add someone with her experience and energy to our team. She is a rising star in our profession and has already hit the ground running with our fall sports."

Briggs is committed to refining the game-day experience and supporting the athletic department's mission. Her experience as a student-athlete and her understanding of the sports environment position her well to make meaningful contributions.
