SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey baseball team dropped two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games to visiting Cal State East Bay, Friday, 6-12 and 6-11.
Senior #Jacob Flores# went 5-for-8 on the day with an equal number of runs scored and runs batted in at three a piece. Freshman #Thomas George# went 4-for-7 with three runs batted in and two runs scored.
The two teams will be back in action as the Otters travel to Hayward, Saturday, to wrap-up the CCAA series starting at 11 a.m.
GAME 1

The Otters gave up one run in the first to the Pioneers.
In the second inning, CSUMB would score two runs, racking up hits from senior #Jason Okamoto#, followed by a double down the right field line by George, a single up the middle off the bat of freshman #Nolan Murray# and freshman shortstop #Ronnie Fhurong#'s single to right field.
East Bay had a big third inning, producing four runs off of four hits.
The Otters scored one run in the fourth making the score 5-3.
The Pioneers added two runs in the fifth, combining four hits before leaving the bases loaded.
East Bay produced two runs in the top of the seventh starting with a lead-off double to center field. The Pioneers would add three more hits to complete the inning.
CSUMB would add two runs to their total with a lead-off double to left center by Murray. Flores hit his fourth home run of the season to bring in Murray.
The Pioneers would add three runs to the tally in the ninth, making the score 12-5.
CSUMB would add the final run of the game in the bottom of the ninth with two hits, stranding one.
GAME 2

East Bay struck in the first with two runs on the board and four hits.
The Otters answered back in the first with one run.
George hit a stand-up triple in the second inning. He would later score on a Pioneer error.
CSUMB in the third, had the biggest Otter inning of the day, posting four runs off of six hits before stranding two, tying the game at six a peice. Flores singled up the middle to lead the inning off. Sophomore left fielder #Jordan Porcella-Smeds# singled to right center. Freshman #Kyle Espinola# doubled to left center bringing in both Otter runners. Senior catcher #Joey Friedman# continued the rally with a hard hit shot through the left side advancing Espinola to third. George followed that up with a single through the right side, scoring Espinola. Junior right fielder #Andrew DeGarmo# doubled to left center to give the Otters the fourth run of the inning.
The Pioneers would add five runs to the total, making the final score 11-6.
