LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team was unable to pull out a victory over No. 3 UC San Diego on Sunday, Feb. 28. The Otters were swept in the four-game series, falling 12-1 and 9-3, to the Tritons in the doubleheader.
The Otters drop to 2-15 overall and 1-11 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play while the Tritons improved to 15-3, 6-2 in conference action.

Senior #Jacob Flores# led the Otters by racking up three of CSUMB's seven hits. Seniors #Brent Sargenti#, #Joey Friedman# and #Ryan Chagonjian# along with freshman
Tyler Young nabbed the other four hits for CSUMB.
The Tritons scored in five of the nine innings with a day-high four runs in the fourth.

The Otters took their first lead of any game of the series, leading 3-2 in the top of the third. Flores hit a single to center field to score Murray who singled to lead off the inning. Chagonjian doubled to right field to bring freshman #Ronnie Fhurong# across the plate.
The Tritons responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third, on in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to close out the scoring at 9-3 UCSD.
The Otters return home for a week of non-conference games, kicking off with University of Montana State-Billings on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
