MEN'S BASKETBALL
OPENING TIP: Sitting in a tie for eighth place with Cal State Stanislaus, CSUMB (7-11, 5-8 CCAA) wraps up a crucial stretch that features four consecutive road games. CSUMB opens the north road swing at Sonoma State (6-13, 5-9 CCAA) on Thursday, Feb. 4 in Rohnert Park. Two days later, the Otters square off against Humboldt State (13-4, 11-3 CCAA) in Arcata.

CCAA STAT RANKINGS: Against conference opponents, the Otters are second in steals (7.7) and free throw percentage (73.4) while slipping to third in defensive rebounds (24.2). Freshman #Davion Berry# - 5th in scoring (14.1), 12th in assists (1.3), 15th in assists (2.1) and 7th in 3-point field goal percentage (42.4). Senior #Sean Jergo# - 29th in scoring (9.0), 3rd in rebounding (7.2), 4th in defensive rebounds (4.9), 4th in offensive rebounds (2.3) and11th in free throw percentage (80.9). THE SEAWOLVES: Sonoma State (6-13, 5-9 CCAA) is just 3-6 at home. Just like CSUMB, the Seawolves are searching for its first three-game winning streak of the year. Biggest win of the season thus far was a 65-50 victory over rival Humboldt State in Arcata. THE LUMBERJACKS: Humboldt State ( ) was tabbed to finish second in the CCAA preseason poll. The Lumberjacks are on a six-game winning streak going into their game against San Francisco State on Thursday. After 29 years as head coach at HSU, Tom Wood announced his retirement plans on Jan. 26. OPENING TIP: The Otters are tied for the fourth spot with Chico State in the CCAA standings. CSUMB takes on Sonoma State on Thursday before traveling farther north on Saturday for an afternoon game against Humboldt State.

THE SEAWOLVES: Sonoma State (9-11, 7-7 CCAA) is tied with Cal State San Bernardino in the sixth spot in the CCAA standings. Players to Watch: Stephanie Barnes (8.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg.); Oly Larkin (7.7 ppg, 31 assists); Jaclyn Bisordi (7.2 ppg, 17 steals).
THE LUMBERJACKS: On a five-game winning streak, Humboldt State (14.4, 12-2 CCAA) is the only conference team to defeat nationally ranked UC San Diego so far this year. Players to Watch: Brittney Taylor (17.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 26 blocks); Andrea Bobic (12.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg).
WOMEN'S WATER POLO
UPCOMING GAMES: CSUMB welcomes Santa Clara and Fresno Pacific to the Otter Aquatics Center on Saturday, Feb. 6.
PREVIOUS WEEKEND: Three out of the four teams the Otters played last weekend were ranked in the Top 10 in the nation, including No. 1 Stanford University. CSUMB had a strong showing and it was a great learning experience for the young Otters.
BASEBALL
UPCOMING GAMES: The Otters kickoff their 2010 season hosting No. 15 Sonoma State in two doubleheaders on Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6. First pitch is 11 a.m.
THE SEAWOLVES: Sonoma State (1-0) played its first game of the year on Tuesday, Feb. 2 and pulled off a 3-1 victory over visiting San Francisco State. The Seawolves took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth on a home run by senior Max Shupe. Sonoma State added an insurance run on Austin Hogans's homer in the 7th inning.
SOFTBALL
UPCOMING TOURNAMENT: The Otters compete in the Best of the West Tournament hosted by Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock on Feb. 5-7.
NCAA RANKINGS: In the first pre-season poll, CSUMB is ranked 30th in the nation (found in the receiving votes section).
CCAA PRESEASON POLL: CSUMB has been tabbed to repeat as the CCAA tournament champions following a vote of league coaches. The Otters are picked to finish second in the regular season behind Humboldt State.
MEN'S GOLF
UPCOMING TOURNAMENT: The CSUMB men's golf team has been selected to compete in the 1st Annual Golfweek Spring Invitational at the Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 7-9. The 54-hole event will be played on the Independence Course designed by PGA golfer Tom Watson.
THE PLAYERS: Representing the Otters in this invite-only tournament will be seniors #John Jackson# and #Jason Simonetti#, junior #D.J. Milligan# and freshmen #Dylan Jackson# and #Anthony Valdez#.
