TURLOCK, Calif. - Four Otters record double-digits with senior #Sean Jergo# leading the way with 17 points as the Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team defeated the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus, 74-68, on Saturday night.
The Otters (7-11, 5-8) are now tied with the Warriors (9-9, 5-8) for the eighth spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings.
Freshman #Davion Berry# finished with 15 points, six assists and three steals. Junior #Ian Hosford# and freshman #Brandon Ward# each added 11 points. Jergo pulled down a team-high seven boards.
After being down 28-22 at the break, the Otters went on a 13-2 run to begin the second half and took a 35-30 lead at the first media timeout break. The Otters never gave up the lead, only allowing the Warriors to pull within one, 35-34, at 13:31.
The Otters scored 23 of their points from the charity stripe with Ward shooting 100 percent (8-for-8).
“Great road trip for us this weekend,” said head coach #Rob Bishop#. “We once again weathered a slow start offensively by playing good defense in the first half and then we were able to get off some good shots that fell in the second half and were able to make our free throws.”
CSUMB continues its four-game road trip on Thursday, Feb. 4, traveling to Rohnert Park to take on the Seawolves of Sonoma State. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
