SEASIDE, Calif. - The Cal State Monterey Bay fall sports begin their 2009 campaign this weekend. The men's soccer team plays exhibition games against Sacarmento State and San Jose State on Thursday and Friday respectively. The Otters open their regular season on Saturday, Aug. 29 and Monday, Aug. 31, competing in the Chico State Tournament on Saturday and Monday.

Men's Soccer Preview
The Otter men's soccer team kicks off its 2009 campaign with exhibition games against Sacramento State and San Jose State before competing in the Chico State Tournament. CSUMB will face Academy of Art for the first time in program history on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. followed by match-up against St Martin's University on Monday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m.
Returning nine starters from last year's squad, CSUMB's 2007 captain #Riley Johns# is anxious to get back on the field after having to sit out for a year. Joining Johns in the backfield is senior goalkeeper #Brenden Baca#, fifth-year senior #Sean Kwasnicki# and senior #Aaron Besaw# along with sophomores #Beau Villanueva# and #Eli Zamora#.
All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) second team selection #Juan Pablo Murillo# returns as center midfielder.
Senior #Randall Rigali# and junior #Grant Robson# will return as outside midfielders. Senior #Nate Torricelli#, junior #Andy Binol# and senior #Mario Khoury# will once again lead the offense on the front line.
This year's squad added eight newcomers including head coach Artie Cairel's son, Joesph who will play in the midfield for the Otters.
