Otters Fall To Cal State Stanislaus In Series Finale

SEASIDE, Calif.
– Despite recording 15 hits on Sunday, the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team fell 15-5 to the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus in the four-game CCAA series finale at the Otter Baseball Field.

The Warriors broke the scoreless tie in the third inning, picking up three runs.  They would score at least one run in the remaining six innings, except in the ninth.

CSUMB picked up two unearned runs in the fifth inning to close the lead to 6-2.  Senior #Steve Mays# scored on a CSUS error after leading off the inning with a double. Sophomore #Andrew DeGarmo# hit a RBI single to right field to bring senior #Shea Davis# to the plate.

The Warriors added two more runs in the top of the sixth to make it 8-2.

Senior #Matt DeJesus# hit his second home run of the series in the Otters' frame, a three-run shot to right center that closed the gap to 8-5. 

Stanislaus pulled away with six runs on five hits in the top of the seventh.

After going 3-for-5 against the Warriors on Sunday, DeJesus finished the series with a .563 batting average (9-for-16) with two home runs, three runs and four RBI.

Senior #Daniel Barras#, Mays, Davis and DeGarmo, who were in the top five spots of the lineup, each recorded two hits for the Otters.

CSUMB (7-28, 3-17) welcomes Academy of Art University to the Otter Baseball Field on Tuesday, March 31, at 2:30 p.m.  The Otters defeated the Urban Knights, 13-2, on Friday, March 20.
