Game Notes










FIRST PITCH:
The Otters host Academy of Art of San Francisco in a non-conference game on Friday.  The Urban Knights are in their inaugural season with 13 sports.

NEXT WEEK:
CSUMB returns to CCAA play in a four-game series against Cal State Stanislaus, who went from No. 1 to No. 27th in the national rankings by Collegiate Baseball, on March 27th. 

SCOUTING THE URBAN KNIGHTS:
Academy of Art (0-13) is still searching for its first victory in the program's history. On Feb. 24, the Urban Knights almost pulled it off against Hawaii Hilo but fell 7-5 in the second game of the doubleheader. AAU has been shut out five times and have lost 10 of their 15 games by six runs or more.

FIVE CCAA TEAMS IN NATIONAL STANDINGS:
In the new Collegiate Baseball Division II rankings that were released on March 16, five CCAA teams are featured.  UC San Diego moved up from No. 23 to No. 7 after sweeping then No. 1 Cal State Stanislaus in a four game series this past weekend. Stanislaus dropped to No. 27th.  Cal State L.A. is No. 10, five spots higher than last week's rankings. Chico State broke into the top 30 with a No. 24 ranking and Sonoma State went from No. 20 to No. 29th after dropping a 6-3 decision to the Otters on Saturday, March 14. 

CCAA LEADERS:
CSUMB Batters: 2nd in doubles (59), 6th in hits (198), 3rd in stolen bases (25), 2nd in hit by pitches (32)

CSUMB Pitching Staff: 2nd in lowest amount of balks (3).

CSUMB Defense: 1st in double plays (22)
