The Otters open California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play against No. 25 UC San Diego this weekend.

NEXT WEEK:
CSUMB heads south to compete against Cal State San Bernardino in a four-game series.

SCOUTING THE TRITONS:
UCSD played its first games since a 10-day layoff due to inclement weather last week. Last year, the entire starting lineup of the Tritons was hitting at .300 or better.  This season, UCSD currently has three hitters hitting at a .300 clip. Players to watch: Tim Shibuya (1-1, 1.80 ERA, .192 Opp BA).  Matt Rossman (1-1, 2.16 ERA, 2.26 Opp BA), Evan Kehoe (.391, 2 HR, 2 2B, 4 RBI), Robert Sedin (.381, 8 H), Vance Albitz (.300, 5 BB, 4-for-4 SB)

CSUMB DOWNS UC SAN DIEGO IN 2009 FINALE:
The CSU Monterey Bay baseball team hammered out 19 hits in defeating No. 8 UC San Diego 17-16 on May 4, in La Jolla. #Brian Callen# picked up his second win of the season for the Otters (17-35, 9-27 CCAA) .  CSUMB finishes the year on a two-game win streak and series split with the nationally ranked Tritons (41-14, 25-11 CCAA). Matt Ralls (4-5, 1 RBI) led off the game with a single up the middle to begin what would be a three hour and 45 minute battle of the bats at the Triton's home field. Also recording multiple hits for the Otters were #Matt DeJesus# (3-6, 4 RBI), #Steve Mays# (3-6, 2 RBI), Jayson Furia (2-3), #Jacob Flores# (2-4), and #Cody Guarnera# (2-4).

OREGON TECH - DAY 1:
The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the third and then cruised to a 7-3 victory over Oregon Tech in the second game of the doubleheader at Otters Baseball Field on Saturday, Feb. 14.  The Otters dropped game one, 8-2. CSUMB starter #Thomas Incaviglia# (4.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO) picked up his first victory before #Brock Meastas# (2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO) earned his second save. In game one, #Matt DeJesus# and #Andrew DeGarmo# led the Otters with two hits. DeJesus recorded his second home run of the season, and DeGarmo added a triple.

OREGON TECH - DAY 2:
Playing in steady rain, the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Oregon Tech on Sunday at the Otters Baseball Field.  The Hustlin' Owls took the opener, 5-3, and the nightcap, 11-6. Senior #Steve Mays# went 2-for-4 in the opener and nabbed a single in the second game to continue his 10-game hitting streak. Junior #Ryan Chagonjian# went 2-for-3 in the second game.
