SEASIDE, Calif.
– Northwest Nazarene avenged their 16-8 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay on Tuesday with a double header sweep of the Otters on Wednesday at Otters Baseball Field. The Crusaders took the opener, 11-7 and pulled off a comeback in the nightcap, 14-11.

The wins put Northwest Nazarene at 6-1, and CSUMB falls to 2-6.

The Otters came out strong in the nightcap, taking a 3-0 lead after the first two innings and held the lead until the top of the fifth.  The Crusaders posted six runs on six hits. 

Down 9-5 going into the sixth, senior #Steve Mays# blasted a three-run home run over the right center wall.  Senior first baseman #Matt DeJesus# followed with a RBI double. 

After a five-run seventh inning by the Crusaders, the Otters attempted a comeback but fell short by scoring only three runs.

Mays and sophomore #Andrew DeGarmo# each had three hits in the contest, while DeJesus and junior #Brent Sargenti# added two hits apiece.

In game one, NNU took the lead in the third inning and never looked back.  The Otters rallied in the seventh inning, scoring six runs on six hits and one NNU error. The Crusaders secured the victory with single runs in the final two innings.

Junior #Jacob Flores#, senior #Shea Davis# and Sargenti each got two hits for the Otters.   

The Otters (2-6) host Sonoma State on Friday in a single nine-inning game.  First pitch is 2:00 p.m.
