BLAINE, Wash. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf team opened the 2008 season with a 13th place finish in the Western Washington University National Division II Preview.
The Otters recorded a 34-over-par 886, 27 strokes out of first place. No. 16 Central Oklahoma captured the tournament title at 6,995-yard Loomis Trail Golf and Country Club, while No. 12 Sonoma State and Hawaii-Hilo finished second and third respectively.
Individually, senior #Ricky Stockton# achieved the highest slot on the leaderboard for CSUMB, finishing in 16th place with a two-over-par 215. Stockton recorded two one-under-par 70 with a four-over-par 75 sandwiched in-between.
Senior #John Jackson# turned in the second best performance for the Otters. Tying for 21st, Jackson shot a four-over-par 217 (73+71+73 = 217).
Sophomore #Scott Yeakel# and junior #Oskar Nystrom# tied for 63rd place, recording a 14-over-par 227.
Senior #Bobby Campbell# rounded out the CSUMB competitors with a 95th finish, shooting a 27-over-par 240.
CSUMB will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 5 in the Grand Canyon University Invitational at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
