PASO ROBLES, Calif.  --- #John Jackson# of Cal State Monterey Bay shot a 72 in the final round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship at Hunter Ranch Golf Club in Paso Robles on Tuesday and placed third overall with a 212 while his team placed fourth.

The fourth-place finish should secure CSUMB a spot in the regional post-season tourney. The regional poll is due out later this week and CSUMB is currently No. 7 and finished ahead of No. 9 ranked UC San Diego.

Sonoma State had three golfers under par on Tuesday to capture the school's first CCAA Championship in the program's five-year history. The Seawolves (858) edged Cal State Stanislaus (862) by four strokes despite rounds of 66 and 67 from the Warriors' Erick Justesen and Jason McHargue. Justesen earned individual medalist honors with a 70-65-67—202.

#Ricky Stockton# tied for 16th and shot a three-round score of 223 for the Otters, #Scott Yeakel# finished at 225, #Martin Hardenberger# at 226 and #Oskar Nystrom# at 233.

The Seawolves had a five stroke advantage heading into Tuesday's third round. All five of SSU's golfers finished in the top 16. For Justesen, it was his second straight CCAA championship. He was also the unofficial winner of the tournament when he was at Cal State MontereyBay and the Otters were provisional CCAA members.

Cal State San Bernardino finished in third place at 869. They were followed by Cal State Monterey Bay (881), Chico State (884), UC San Diego (891), and Cal State Dominguez Hills (930).

Jackson's third-place finish put him on the All-Conference team, which was announced at the end of the championship. Also on the team are Jarin Todd (Sonoma State), Erick Justesen (Cal State Stanislaus), Kyle Hopkins (Sonoma State), Micah Burke (Cal State San Bernardino), Lucas Delgado (Chico State), Gene Webster (Cal State San Bernardino), Jacob O'Keefe (Sonoma State), Andy Moren (Cal State Stanislaus) and Ryan Trask (Chico State).

The 2008 NCAA Division II Super Regionals, to be hosted by Sonoma State, begin May 5 and CSUMB should qualify for it. The Otters need to stay in the top eight in the regional rankings and were No. 7 in the last poll. CSU San Bernardino, which was No. 8,  might move up after third-place finishes at the 35th Annual Buzzini Stanislaus Invitational at Turlock Golf and Country Club last week and then again this week at the CCAA Championship.
