Matt DeJesus powered the Otters to victory with two homeruns.
SURPRISE, Ariz --- Cal State Monterey Bay swept Grand Canyon University 8-3 in game one and 10-5 in game two at Surprise Stadium on Saturday, as #Matt DeJesus#, hit two homeruns and finished the day with 4 RBIs.
#Addis OConnor# (2-2) picked up the win in the first, while #Lucas Allendorf# (2-1) took the win in the second. #Brian Callen# picked up a save in game two. The Otters are now 11-34 overall while GCU falls to 10-31.
DeJesus, who hit a shot that sailed over the 400-foot centerfield fence, was part of a strong top of the order. Leadoff hitter Matt Rall was 2-6 on the day, No. 2 batter Shea Davis was 5-8.
O'Connor threw a complete seven-inning game in the opener, allowing three runs on seven hits. The Otters took the lead with a momentous four-run third inning in which #Jayson Furia# hit a two-run double. DeJesus led off the seventh with a solo shot to put CSUMB ahead 7-3.
The third inning was the big inning in the second game as well, as the Otters used six hits, one a two-run homer by Dejesus, to score five runs. Allendorf (4 IP, 9H, 5R, 3 ER) gave way to Callen in the fifth and he gave up just one hit in the final three innings.
