LOS ANGELES --- It was tied at two early, but CSU Los Angeles scored nine straight runs against Cal State Monterey Bay en route to a 12-7 victory Friday in Los Angeles.
The Otters scored two unearned runs in the first inning, but CSULA tied it with a run in the first and another in the second off of starter #Justin Aguilera# (1-3), who took the loss after pitching five innings, giving up nine runs, seven of them earned, on seven hits.
Down 12-3 in the ninth, CSUMB scored four runs to close the gap. #Jeff Bernacil# finished the day 4 for 5 with a run and 3 RBIs. Max Moya had 4 RBIs for Los Angeles. CSULA starter Isaac Morales (6-1) earned the victory, pitching six innings without giving up an earned run.
The loss drops CSUMB to 7-21 overall and 5-16 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. CSULA improves to 15-16 and 9-7 in the CCAA. The two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. at CSULA.
