TURLOCK --- Cal State Monterey Bay was held to just three hits en route to a 5-0 shut out at the hands of Marquis Fleming and the CSU Stanislaus Warriors on Friday.
It was Fleming's fourth complete game and he is now 6-1 with an ERA of 1.69. CSU Stanislaus (18-5 overall and 11-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association), ranked 12th in the nation in Div. II baseball, has won 13 of its last 15 games. The Otters fall to 7-13 overall and 5-8 in the CCAA.
Cal State Monterey Bay starter #Nadav Poringer# pitched well in the loss, striking out nine and limiting the Warriors to one run and three hits outside of their big four-run fourth inning. Poringer gave up four straight hits in the fourth that culminated in Kyle Loretelli's homerun. Dennis Wolfe bunt singled home Dante Palacios for the Warriors' first run of the inning right before the homerun. #Shea Davis#, #Andrew Marquardt# and #Jeff Bernacil# were the only Otters to get hits off of Fleming.
The four game series continues this weekend as action shifts to Seaside Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon. The teams will return to Warrior Field for the series finale on Sunday with a single game starting at noon.
