The Lady Otters will face the top and bottom of the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings this weekend, with a game against CSU Stanislaus on Friday and Chico State on Saturday.
Cal State Monterey Bay is 1-11 in the CCAA and 2-17 overall. Their best chance for a victory this weekend is Friday's game against the Warriors. CSU Stanislaus is 10th in the CCAA with a record of 3-9. Their top scorer is Shristy Kumar with 13.4 points per game. Lysandra Williams (12.4) and Gwendolyn Page (10) are also averaging double figures in scoring. Their top rebounder is Katie Busi with 6.9 boards per game, which is sixth in the CCAA. The team is ranked sixth in scoring in the conference with 64 points per game and is allowing 73.4 points per game, 10th in the conference.
The Otters' defense is ranked last in the CCAA, allowing 73.9 points and CSUMB's offense (63.3 points per game) is ranked seventh. Dana Andrews leads the Otter attack, averaging 18.9 points per game, which is second in the conference. Point guard Alma Lopez is also averaging double figures with 10.7 points per game. Lopez also leads the conference in assists with 4.53 per game.
In their previous matchup on Jan. 5, CSU Stanislaus defeated CSUMB 75-64. Andrews scored 15 in that game and Sabrina Jenkins scored 13 off the bench, but Kumar scored 23. It will be a tough game for CSUMB, but Saturday will be even a more difficult game for the Otters. Chico State leads the CCAA at 10-2 and the Wildcats are 17-4 overall. On Jan. 4, Chico beat CSUMB 81-55. In that game, Natasha Smith scored 25, and she is averaging just 8.3 points per game. Audriana Spencer leads the team in scoring with 14 points per game. Spencer is the team's most prolific three-point shooter with 4.1 attempts a game.
Chico faced CSU Stanislaus on Jan. 31 and beat the Warriors 86-70. Renee Goldoff came off Chico's bench to lead all scorers with 23 points, hitting 10 of 14 shots. Busi had 15 points for the Warriors, who were beat off the glass 39 rebounds to 26.
