BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay finished seventh, three shots back of Chico State at the CSU Bakersfield Poor Boy invitational at the Seven Oaks Country Club on Tuesday. The No. 5-ranked Cal State Stanislaus men's golf team won the tournament, its first of the spring season, as the Warriors edged UCLA.

The Warriors shot a team score of 283 on Tuesday to edge the Bruins, ranked No. 5 in Division I by the Golf Coaches Association of America, by one stroke (847 to 848) in the final team standings. Sonoma State, the No. 1 ranked team in Division II, finished third with a 854. CSUMB shot a team score of 879. The tournament is hosted by Cal State Bakersfield on the par 72, 7,008-yard course.

UCLA's Erik Flores was the individual medalist after another carding another 69 to finish at 10-under 206. John Jackson shot 69, 71 and 72 for a combined score of 212 to place eighth, the highest of any Otter.
