Women's basketball team heads north to face HSU, Sonoma State

| By:
Dana Andrews (24) and Alma Lopez play tight defense against HSU.

Andrews is adding to her school records

#Dana Andrews#, the California Collegiate Athletic Association's second-leading scorer with 19.2 points per game, will look to add to her career totals this weekend as the team travels north to face Humboldt State University on Friday and Sonoma State on Saturday. Andrews is currently first in school history with 874 career points, first in attempts with 715, first in three-pointers made with 116 and first in three-point attempts with 349.

Andrews needs just eight more points to break the school record for points in a season and 16 more points will bring her total to 400. Three more three-pointers will give her the school's season record in that category and 12 more three-point shots will be the most attempts taken in a season. She has currently made 59 of 156 from beyond the arc.

Andrews' teammates are also reaching milestones. #Krista Herr#, with 615 career rebounds, is just six away from having 200 more than any other player in CSUMB history. Herr has 193 boards this season, just nine short of second place for the most in a season at CSUMB. Herr also holds the career mark for games started with 72.

#Britnea Moore# is second to Andrews in career points scored with 870. Many of those points have come from the free throw line, where she is first all time in both attempts and shots made, hitting 301 of 430. Point guard #Alma Lopez#, with 189, is closing in on 200 career assists; she is currently third on that list. She has made 95 assists this season, which is second most in a season at CSUMB. She would need 38 more to surpass Hollie Lees' 133. Lopez's next three-pointer will move her to fifth on the career list with 51.

The team rests in last place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association with a 1-13 record and must start winning now if there is to be any hope of making the postseason tournament. Cal State Dominguez Hills (5-9) is in eighth and currently holds the final slot in the tourney.

Humboldt State is 7-7 in the CCAA and in sixth place. Sonoma State is 9-5 and in third place. The Otters played both teams at home in January, losing to HSU 59-72 and falling to Sonoma St. 63-71.

Both Friday's and Saturday's game will be broadcast over the Internet with play-by-play announcer Rob Ponce calling the action. To tune in, go to otterathletics.com and click on the live audio feed link. The games begin at 5:30 p.m.
