SFSU Defeats Concordia-St Paul In Otter Classic Opener

SEASIDE, Calif.
– San Francisco State held on to a victory in the first game of the Otter Classic, defeating Concordia University, St. Paul 71-67 at the Otter Sports Center.

SFSU's Alex Thomas finished with 15 points while senior Will Logan added 13 points and sophomore Robert Hayes chipped in 12.

Junior Craig Heiman of Concordia scored a team-high 15 points.  Senior Matt Cadwell and junior Mike Cunning each added 12 points.

SFSU finished the half outscoring Concordia-St. Paul 16-10 to take a 34-24 lead into the locker room.

SFSU Robert Hayes sunk a three from downtown to take a 10 point lead at 15 minute mark.

Quentin Barfield stole the ball and sets up to Sammy Ricks to give the Golden Bears a 67-66 lead, their first of the half. 

SFSU retook the lead on a lay-up by Thomas, and Hayes made an old fashion three-point play to extend the Gators lead to 71-67. 

SFSU outrebounded Concordia, 34-26.

The Gators take on Seattle Pacific University on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m., and Concordia pairs up against host Cal State Monterey Bay in the final game at 7:30 p.m.
