POMONA, Calif.
– After three hours and a combined 45 fouls, the Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer teams finished in a 2-2 double overtime tie before 510 fans at Kellogg Field on Friday night. The Otters earn their fourth tie of the season (1-5-4, 1-3-3 CCAA) as the Broncos registered their first (3-6-1, 1-5-1 CCAA).

The Otters took an early 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.  Junior goalkeeper #Brenden Baca# punted the ball three-fourths of the length of the field. The ball took one bounce and sophomore #Andy Binol# scored his second goal of the season.

CPP's senior Nigel Orozco tied the game 1-1 on a free kick in the game's 32nd minute.

Orozco gave the Broncos a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick at the 63:22 minute-mark.

Junior #Randall Rigali#'s goal with just six minutes remaining in regulation forced the Otter's sixth overtime of the season.

"Another great team effort and heart with excellent performances by Binol and (goalkeeper) #Sam Campanelli#," said head coach Artie Cairel. "Coming back to tie after our penalty kick miss showed determination of this group."

The Otters continue their road trip on Sunday, Oct. 5 as they take on Cal State San Bernardino. Kick-off is at 2 p.m.
