SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Monterey Bay seniors
Andrew Kotin and
Bobby Benavidez were named All-West Region by the Conference Commissioners Association (CCA), the organization announced.
Kotin once again garnered first-team accolades while Benavidez was named to the second team. The duo was also tabbed to the NCBWA all-region squads.
Senior
Andrew Kotin made history by being the first Otter to be named CCAA Pitcher of the Year. Kotin capped off his stellar season with 3.90 earned run average, going 9-1 over 67 innings pitched. The right-hander had a 1.34 WHIP. The senior went 5-0 in conference play, while CSUMB was 10-1 in games that he started en route to being tabbed to the first team.
In his lone season with the Otters, senior outfielder
Bobby Benavidez was named to the CCAA first team and now earned second-team all-region honors from the second organization this postseason. The La Sierra University transfer played in 50 games, making 42 starts. Benavidez batted .333 with eight home runs, 13 doubles and 43 RBI.
The Otters finished the season 37-18 overall, claiming their fifth straight CCAA Regular Season conference title and earning their seventh consecutive NCAA postseason berth.
