SEASIDE, Calif. – The No. 12-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team was held scoreless in by Northwest Nazarene, falling 17-0, in what proved to end the record-breaking season for the Otters.
The Nighthawks scored in every inning except the fifth and sixth, posting multiple runs in five of the frames.
The Otters managed only three total hits as senior
Nick Maestas batted 2-for-2, while junior
James Starkus tallied the other CSUMB hit.
Jakob Rochelle (2-3) delivered a complete game shutout for NNU, pitching the full nine innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 10 batters without issuing a walk.
The Nighthawk offense was balanced across the lineup. Kyle Becker went 3-for-5, Jake Mestas finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs, Tate Lewis went deep twice, Caleb Boswell also added a pair of home runs, while Adrian Arechiga went a perfect 3-for-3.
Senior
Hayden Hall (7-4) took the loss for CSUMB. The Otters used six pitchers in the defeat.
CSUMB concludes its season with a 37-18 overall record, while NNU advances to the Super Regional round at 41-15.
