STOCKTON – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team are fourth overall, posting a combined team score of 313 (+25) in the opening round of the CCAA Championships held at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
"Today was a tough one, we started slowly and it got worse as the day progressed," head coach
Jim Ragan said. "Hopefully the weather will allow us to play all 18 holes for tomorrow's second round and we can claw our way back for a strong finish on Wednesday."
Audrey Cheng led the Monterey Bay contingent with a round of 76, four strokes over par, tying for eighth place overall in the individual standings. The newcomer rallied on the back-nine, firing a 34 with three birdies.
Esther Sheu recorded a 77, five strokes over par, sitting in 11th place.
Morgan Pittman carded a 78, 6-over, tying for 12 overall after the initial round.
Khivi Kaur shot 82, while senior
Cathy Tong completed the Otter lineup with an 83.
The Otters look to move up the leaderboard tomorrow as they are scheduled to tee off at 8:00 a.m.
