POMONA – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team dropped its first decision of 2026, falling to No. 13-ranked Cal Poly Pomona, 76–48, on the road at Kellogg Arena Thursday evening.
The Otters trailed early as the Broncos opened with a 24–9 first quarter, and despite efforts to climb back, CSUMB couldn't close the gap over the final three periods.
CSUMB finished the game 14 of 43 from the field (32.6 percent) and converted 17 of 20 free throws. The Otters held firm on the boards at times with 18 rebounds and saw quality contributions from several players.
Jayden McNeal led Monterey Bay offensively with 13 points, shooting 4 of 7 from the floor and 5 of 6 at the free-throw line. Janelle Peña added seven points, and A'ajah Slocum scored eight while going a perfect 3 of 3 from the field and 2 of 2 from beyond the arc.
Riley Walls finished with five points and had a steal, and both
Jennifer Moreno Ortiz and
Leah Sarabia scored four points each.
Malaysia Lucero also chipped in four points.
The Otters close out their initial road trip of 2026 on Saturday at Cal State San Bernardino. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
