SAN BERNARDINO – Behind a career-high 22 points from junior transfer
Jennifer Moreno Ortiz, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team posted a decisive, 64–56, road win at Cal State San Bernardino Saturday afternoon.
The win was the third of the four-game road trip for CSUMB to open the 2026 portion of its schedule.
The Otters led after every quarter, opening with a 14–9 advantage, stretching that margin through the second and third periods, before closing out the victory in the fourth.
CSUMB finished shooting at a 44.4 percent clip from the field and converted 50 percent from beyond the arc to lead from start to finish.
Moreno Ortiz led the Otters with her career-high 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting and connected on four three-pointers, anchoring CSUMB's scoring attack.
Riley Walls added 12 points and recorded the first double-double of her young career, grabbing 10 rebounds. A'ajah Slocum contributed eight points and three assists in 40 minutes of action.
Ledjan Pahukoa provided nine points on perfect shooting from long range, and
Brianna Bouton scored seven, helping the bench sustain energy and offense.
Jayden McNeal chipped in four points, and Janelle Peña added two as part of the team's depth.
Monterey Bay also finished with 36 total rebounds and forced 15 turnovers, converting those miscues into 19 points to post one of the most complete games on both sides of the floor on the season.
The Otters will now return to the Kelp Bed for the first time in 2026 as they host Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA next week. CSUMB opens the home slate against the Toros on Thursday, Jan. 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
