SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team delivered an 82–49 home win over Stanislaus State on Saturday at the Kelp Bed, leading to a weekend sweep.
The Otters jumped out to a 20–12 first-quarter lead and extended that edge each period, closing strong with a 25-point fourth quarter that sealed the decisive victory.
CSUMB shot 54.4 percent from the field and 78.9 percent at the free-throw line, ending with a 31-for-57 mark overall and 15-for-19 from the charity stripe.
The Otters also made 5 of 17 three-point attempts and scored 48 points in the paint, overwhelming Stanislaus State's defense. CSUMB controlled the glass with 35 rebounds and created 18 assists while forcing turnovers that led to 23 points off miscues.
A'ajah Slocum led the scoring with 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting and added five rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes.
Leah Sarabia matched Slocum with 17 points, going 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-4 at the line while pulling down eight rebounds.
Jennifer Moreno Ortiz contributed 14 points with two three-pointers and four rebounds, and
Cheyanne Whitfield chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.
Malaysia Lucero added 10 points and five boards, and Janelle Peña scored six.

Demi Thompson-Lopez as part of its depth-driven effort.
The Otters will continue play at home against Cal State San Bernardino. The two teams will meet on Thursday, Feb.5, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
