Bandle Named CCAA Defensive PoTW

Junior middle totaled 20 blocks over three matches

September 16, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay junior middle blocker Lilly Bandle (Jackson, Wisc./West Bend East HS) totalled 20 blocks over three matches last week to earn FloCollege/CCAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 14.

It's the first time Bandle has won the award and the first for an Otter since Kea Veenendaal was so honored for the week of Oct. 29, 2023.

Bandle enjoyed an historic week at the net at the Vanguard/Biola Tournament, highlighted by a 9-block effort at Biola Saturday afternoon. The nine blocks were the second-most ever in a 4-set match and the third most in any match in Otter history.

She opened the weekend with six blocks against Vanguard University and added five more against Azusa Pacific.

Bandle enters the week leading CSUMB and ranked No. 4 in the CCAA at 1.19 blocks per set. If she keeps up that pace, she would set the Otter record for blocking in a single season.

CSUMB opens CCAA play this week, beginning Thursday with a Battle of the Bays at Cal State East Bay. The Otters will host new CCAA member UC Merced Saturday in their conference home opener.

First serve both evenings is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tickets for Saturday's match are available online at OtterAthletics.com/Tickets. Fans who can't make it to either match can watch on the FloSports Network (OtterAthletics.com/watch).
