TURLOCK – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team split its doubleheader with Stanislaus State on Saturday afternoon at the Warrior Baseball Field. The Otters won game one, 14-8, and then fell in the night cap, 9-6.
GAME ONE
The Otters continued their winning ways in the first contest, taking down the Warriors, 14-8. It was their second straight victory scoring in double-digits.
CSUMB raced out to an early lead, scoring six in the opening frame.
Javier Felix and
Noah Zertuche had the big game, each collecting three hits as Felix hit his ninth home run of the season.
The Otters added a five-spot in the fourth and single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth to earn the victory.
Henry Proger (4-2) earned the win, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out four in five innings.
GAME TWO
The Otters suffered their first loss of the season as the Warriors claimed a 9-6 victory in the nightcap.
Max Farfan and
Noah Zertuche collected multi-hit games as Zertuche left the yard in the second inning.
Aidan Lee allowed four runs – three earned on six hits in three innings while
Jacob Parks (0-2) was tagged with loss after allowing three runs in a third of an inning.
The two teams will close out the series tomorrow at Noon.
