TURLOCK – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team earned the series victory and stayed in the conference championship race after taking down Stanislaus State, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the Warrior Baseball Field. The Otters improve to 30-15 overall and 23-13 in CCAA play.
CSUMB out-hit Stanislaus, 9-5, as
Dominic Felice batted 3-for-3 and scored twice and
Noah Zertuche hit a home run and drove in four in the winning effort.
Mitchell Torres (4-1) didn't allow an earned run and struck out six in six innings to earn the win.
Dylan Gardner earned his first save, striking out two while allowing a single hit in three innings of relief.
After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, the Otters scored two in the fourth on a Zertuche two-run double.
After a
Max Farfan homer in the sixth, Zertuche closed out the game with a two-run homer in the ninth.
The Otters will close out the regular season against San Francisco State with a four-game series that will begin on Thursday, May 1.
