TURLOCK – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team opened its series on the road against Stanislaus State with a 16-2 victory on Friday evening at the Warrior Baseball Field.
The Otters banged out 13 hits and was led by a 4-for-5 effort from senior
KW Quilici, who also drove in five and scored twice. Quilici hit a two-run homer in the six-run eighth to mark his 11
th on the season.
CSUMB raced out to a 9-0 lead after scoring four runs in the second inning and putting up a five-spot in the fourth.
Quilici drove in a pair in the second and
Jaden Sheppard returned in a big way, smacking a two-run double in the fourth.
Cole Murchison also doubled home a run to add to the big inning.
Nate Rohlicek (3-2) earned the win after fanning 10 and allowed two runs on four hits in seven strong innings.
The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow with first pitch of game one scheduled for 1 p.m.
