SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos scored eight runs in the final three innings to earn the series opening victory, 9-2, on Thursday evening at the Otter Sports Complex.
The contest started as a pitching duel as
Nate Rohlicek and Spencer Anderson were dealing. Rohlicek was perfect through three but eventually allowed a run in the fourth and ran into trouble in the sixth, allowing six runs.
Anderson earned the win after allowing two unearned runs on seven hits and struck out five in 7 1/3 innings to move to 5-1 on the season.
KW Quilici had himself a ballgame, making an amazing grab to rob a homerun, scaling the wall to take away a would-be longball. In the bottom half of the inning, he hit 10
th homerun of the season, smashing a two-run shot to hand the Otters a 2-1 lead.
CSUMB was out-hit 9-8 as
Andrew Lehmann was the lone Otter with a multi-hit game, batting 2-for-3.
The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow, starting at 2 p.m.
