LOS ANGELES – Behind an absolute gem from
Nate Rohlicek and a three-run third inning, the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team opened its series with a 4-2 victory over Cal State LA on Friday evening at Reeder Field.
Rohlicek went eight innings and only allowed three hits and struck out six to earn his second win of the season.
Andrew Kotin earned his fourth save after holding off the Golden Eagles in the final frame.
CSUMB outhit CSULA 13-4 as five different Otters collected multi-hit games.
Max Farfan and
Noah Zertuche led the way with three hits apiece.
Farfan smacked his sixth home run of the season to open the scoring in the third, drilling a two-run shot over the wall in left-center.
Jaden Sheppard accounted for the final two runs.
Andrew Lehmann,
KW Quilici, and
Jacob Dressler also had multi-hits for the Otters.
The two teams will square off tomorrow for a doubleheader with the first game scheduled for 1 p.m.
