HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped its series opener on the road to Cal State East Bay, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the Pioneer Baseball Field.
The Otters out-hit the Pioneers, 10-9, and threatened late, scoring a run in the eighth and had the tying run on base in both the final two innings, but could not push the equalizer across.

Javier Felix and
Max Farfan collected multi-hit games. Two of the three CSUMB runs were via the longball as Farfan started things off with a solo shot in the second inning.
Felix continued his torrid pace at the plate by doubling home Quilici in the sixth before
Jaden Sheppard went deep in the eighth.
Nate Rohlicek (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out six in four innings.
Henry Proger tossed four innings of one-hit relief.
The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 11 a.m.
