Otters Split Doubleheader; Score 20 Runs in First Game

CSUMB erupts for 20 runs in 20-2 victory in front end of doubleheader

HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team erupted for 20 runs on 17 hits to down Cal State East Bay, 20-2, in the front end of the doubleheader on Saturday. The Pioneers took game two by the score of 4-2.
 
GAME ONE
 
The Otters plated 20 runs for the first time since 2020 as they scored a pair in the second, five in the fourth and fifth and put up a seven-spot in the eighth to run away from the Pioneers. 20-2.
 
KW Quilici drove in six runs and went deep and Kahle Good hit his first home run in an Otter uniform to lead the offensive onslaught.
 
Sergio Solis batted 4-for-5 and scored four times, while Jimmy Garcia and Noah Zertuche also posted multi-hit games.
 
Dylan Gardner allowed just two hits in six innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
GAME TWO
 
CSUMB could not keep the momentum going in game two of the doubleheader as they dropped the nightcap, 4-2.
 
KW Quilici continued his hot hitting by batting 2-for-2, but he accounted for nearly half of the five Otter hits.
 
The Pioneers scored all four of their runs in the first three innings as the Otters scored a pair in the fourth, but ultimately fell in the seven-inning outing.
 
The two teams will face off tomorrow at Noon.
