TURLOCK – The Cal State Monterey Bay track & field team delivered an impressive showing across multiple events at the Kim Duyst Invitational, earning several top finishes and personal bests.
"There were some strong performances today," CSUMB head coach
Greg Rhines said. "From veterans to first-timers, these teams have grit, which is a rare commodity these days. I am looking forward to watching these teams grow and continue to improve."
Ali Keith led the way in the 5K, finishing third with a strong 18:11.98.
Daniela Munguia also had a solid run, placing ninth in 19:10.79.
In the 1,500m,
Cozette Wood crossed the line in 5:01.32, finishing 19th in a competitive field.
On the men's side,
Erik Bromley ran an impressive 15:24.78 in the 5K, securing a fifth-place finish, while
Jaime Gonzalez followed closely behind in seventh at 15:33.33.
Hanival Osorio-Martinez competed in the 1,500m, posting a 4:12.15 to place 14th.
In the 800m,
Rachel Hoops had a stellar performance, finishing third with a 2:21.58, showing great promise in the event.
Taylar Yost took on the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 1:07.40 to secure a solid fifth-place finish.
The Otters will return to the oval next weekend at the Wildcat Invitational. The meet will begin on March 8 in Chico.
