SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team took down Jessup University, 5-1, to earn the two-game series sweep at the Otter Sports Complex on Saturday.
CSUMB collected 11 hits as
Casey Hinojosa led the offensive attack with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate.
Cody Borraggine batted 2-for-4, while
KW Quilici smacked a two-run home run.
The Otters opened the scoring on a Hinojosa single in the second and then
Jaden Sheppard secured the winning run by scoring on a wild pitch.
Quilici connected on his sixth homerun on the season in the seventh inning to expand the lead to 4-1.
The Otter arms were sharp, allowing just one run on three hits. Five different CSUMB hurlers recorded a hitless inning.
CSUMB will face Chico State next weekend for a four-game series, beginning on Friday, March 21.
