MONTEREY, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay track and field team opened the 2025 season in midseason form as record breaking times and CCAA qualifying marks were set at the Lobo Invitational hosted by Monterey Peninsula College.

Greg Rhines said. "Usually, early meets are to get the rust off, well this meet had some polishing going on for sure."
Junior
Ali Keith started her season in impressive fashion by clocking a 10:23.61 to win the 3,000m. The time breaks the school record of times posted as an official program.
In her first meet as an Otter, newcomer
Rachel Hoops won the 800m and clocked a CCAA Championship qualifying time with a 2:19.74.
Carly Zahrt followed in second place with a 2:26.01.
The Otters went 2-7 in the 2,000m steeple as
Maya Centeno was the runner-up and top collegiate finisher with a time of 7:43.33.
Taylar Yost started her season with a victory in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.77. She also placed second in the 100m hurdles with a 17.15.
On the men's side,
Jaime Gonzalez won the 3,000m with a time of 8:52.60.
Hanival Osorio-Martinez finished third in the 1,500m with a time of 4:13.79.
The Otters continue their season on March 1 at the Kim Duyst Invitational hosted by Stanislaus State.
