SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team picked up a decisive 85–32 win over Cal Maritime on Tuesday night at the Otter Sports Center. The victory marked the second straight to start the home schedule at the Kelp Bed.
CSUMB shot efficiently throughout the night, finishing 32-for-58 from the field and 15-for-25 from three-point range. The Otters also forced 17 turnovers and turned them into 23 points. Their depth was a major factor as the bench contributed 54 points.
Jennifer Moreno Ortiz led CSUMB with 15 points on a perfect shooting night, going 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from beyond the arc while adding seven rebounds and three steals.
Malaysia Lucero added 12 points and three rebounds.
Riley Walls and
Leah Sarabia each scored seven points, while
Ledjan Pahukoa and
A'ajah Slocum both provided strong minutes off the bench.
CSUMB dominated the rebounding battle, 36–14, and held Cal Maritime to 32 points on 12-of-37 shooting.
The Otters will have a quick turnaround and face San Jose State on Thursday, Dec.11, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
