Otters Tame Cougars In Home Finale

MB celebrates senior Mia Dilley with its 4th win in 5 matches

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay continued its strong run of recent play with a 25–22, 25–23, 20–25, 25–14 win over Cal State San Marcos in its 2025 home finale Saturday afternoon in The Kelp Bed.

The Otters won for the fourth time in five matches while sending their lone senior — libero Mia Dilley (Clovis East HS/Fresno CC) — off in style.

Freshmen pins Juliette D'Eliseo (Carlsbad/Sage Creek HS) and Zoe Haan (Phoenix/Sunnyslope HS) led the offense as per usual, combining for 32 kills. D'Eliseo earned bragging rights with a match-high 18.

Junior Lilly Bandle (Jackson, Wisc./West Bend East HS) led a resurgent Otter block with five blocks as the Otters totalled 11 as a team. Haan also claimed five blocks. D'Eliseo and freshman Talula Crandell (Loomis/Del Oro HS) each had four.

D'Eliseo also led an outstanding job by the backline defense, matching her career high with 19 digs. Dilley had a big match with 14 digs of her own.

CSUMB led almost wire-to-wire in winning the first two sets, although San Marcos kept things interesting until the finish both times. The Otters were poised for the sweep after a Haan kill brought the Otters from behind to tie the third set at 20–20. But the Cougars responded with a 5–0 run to win the set and extend the match.

The San Marcos momentum didn't last long, however, as the Otters opened the fourth set with a 4–0 run and gradually extended their lead. They finished the match scoring seven of the final eight points, with a venomous swing by D'Eliseo delivering the coup des grace on match point.
 

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… A Malia Peterson kill started the 7–1 run to saw the match to its conclusion.

TRIPLE THE FUN… Juliette D'Eliseo (18), Zoe Haan (14) and Malia Peterson (13) each reached double-figure kills for the Otters in Saturday's win over Cal State San Marcos. It marked the fourth time this season that three Otters reached double figures in the same match.

BANDLE ON THE BLOCKS… Lilly Bandle finished a strong blocking weekend with a match-high five blocks in Saturday's win over Cal State San Marcos. She recorded a career-high 10 blocks Friday against Cal State L.A.

BANDLE REACHES THE CENTURY MARK… With five blocks Saturday versus Cal State San Marcos., Lilly Bandle became the 26th player ever to record 100 blocks in an Otter uniform. If you add in the 58 blocks she had as a freshman at Bemidji State, her career total is 158. That would rank No. 16 on the Otter career list.

ZOE IS KILLING IT… Freshman Zoe Haan moved into the CSUMB single-season Top 20 for kills in Saturday's win over Cal State San Marcos. Her 14 kills Saturday leave her with 275 for the season, good for No. 19 all-time. With 25 more, she would become just the 16th player in Otter history to record 300 kills in a single season.

CAN YOU DIG IT? The Otters just missed a spot in the CSUMB Top 20 by finishing with 78 digs in Saturday's 4-set win over Cal State San Marcos. It marked just the second time since 2016 that they have totalled as many as 78 digs in a 4-set match.
