SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo team fell in its home opener to Santa Clara, 18-8, Saturday afternoon at the Otter Tank.
The two teams kept it close in the opening frame as the Broncos held a slight 3-2 advantage, but then raced out to a 7-3 lead at the intermission. Santa Clara secured the win by outscoring CSUMB 11-6 in the second half.
Senior
Allyson Ainsworth led the Otters with two goals, while
Stella Martin added two assists.
Marissa White played 24 minutes in goal and was credited with seven saves.
The Otters return to the pool on Saturday, Feb. 1, when the travel north to face San Jose State.
