SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team used a furious second half that included a 20-point third quarter to pull the Otters within three in the fourth but could not hold on in the waning minutes, falling to Chico State, 70-61, Thursday evening at the Kelp Bed.
The Wildcats, who entered the game tied for the top spot in the conference were on their heels as the Otters shot 57-percent in the third quarter to pull within three after a
Jordan Beaumont three to open the fourth.

The Otters forced 20 Wildcat turnovers and had three players in double-figures in the 2025 opener.
A'ajah Slocum equaled her CSUMB career-high with 18 points and added five rebounds and four assists.
Cheyanne Whitfield posted her highest scoring output in an Otter uniform with 17 points, while
Ella Doherty continued her double-digit scoring streak with 10 points and five boards.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… CSUMB will close out its New Year's homestand against Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. The Otters will hit the road for two straight weekends as they open the road-trip at Cal State East Bay on Thursday, Jan. 9. CSUMB will face San Francisco on Saturday and then face Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino on the backend of the trip.
