STOCKTON, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team moved up one spot in the final round to finish the 2024 NCAA Division II West Regional in ninth place Wednesday at Brookside Country Club.

Scores were up across the board Wednesday, but the Otters did just enough to scoot past Biola University by a stroke in the final standings. The ninth place regional finish is CSUMB's best since placing eighth in 2017.

Junior Tilda Kvarnrud led the way Wednesday with an even par 72 that included three birdies on her first nine. Madi Blanc (Oakdale HS) was CSUMB's top finisher in 22nd place at 7-over for the tournament.

Cathy Tong (Newport Harbor HS) tied with Kvarnrud in 34th place at 10-over. Zoe Offield (Stockton/Bear Creek HS) and Mia Golovich (Murrieta Mesa HS) placed 48th and 61st respectively.

"We had a great season, but it's always disappointing for it to come to and end sooner than we had hoped," said CSUMB Head Coach Jim Ragan. "Tilda had a great round under very tough conditions shooting a 72."

"I'm proud of our women and how they represented Cal State Monterey Bay the entire year. They are all outstanding young ladies who all have been a pleasure to coach!"

West Texas A&M claimed the team championship at 6-under 858. The Buffaloes were the only team to finish the 54-hole tournament in the red. Also earning berths in the NCAA Championship Tournament were Top 5 finishers Dallas Baptist, Cal State East Bay, St. Mary's (Texas) and Cal State San Marcos.

CSUSM's Madison Murr won the individual title at 8-under.
