SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team shot a 12-over 300 on Monday in the first round of the CCAA Championships, held at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club.
"We started strong today and overall, it was a good team effort," head coach
Jim Ragan said. "Cathy played well, shooting 73, currently in a tie for second. We play in the leader pairing tomorrow which is exactly where we were hoping to be. The team is looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow."
Four of the five Otters capped off day one in the top-10 as
Cathy Tong paces the squad in a tie for second. Tong carded a 1-over 73 on the 5,903-yard course. The junior was excellent on the front-nine, firing a 1-under 35.
Tilda Kvarnrud is in a tie for seventh, posting a 3-over 75 and recorded two birdies in the round.
Madi Blanc and
Zoe Offield are tied at ninth after a score of 4-over 76. Blanc paced CSUMB with four birdies.
Mia Golovich rounded out the Otters with a 6-over 78.
The Otters return to the course with a 10:50 a.m. tee time in the lead group.
