CHICO - The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team split its doubleheader against Chico State on Saturday. The Otters claimed game one, 6-5, and then fell in the nightcap, 4-3. After the doubleheader, CSUMB is 27-16 overall and 23-12 in conference play.

Cole Murchison drove in three runs and
KW Quilici,
Jaden Sheppard, and
Sergio Solis banged out a pair of hits to lead the Otters to the win.
CSUMB scored three runs in the opening frame to put the pressure on the Wildcats. Quilici and Murchison cashed in early to supply the big hits.
Mitchell Torres continued his impressive season, striking out three in seven innings, while allowing two unearned runs in his start.

Giovanni Costello (4-2) was credited with the win and
Vincent Cicolello grabbed his third save on the year.
GAME 2 | CHICO 4 – CSUMB 3

The Wildcats scored four runs in the fifth inning to earn their first win of the series.
Engman and Quilici collected two more hits and Sheppard drove in a pair to lead the Otters at the plate.
The two teams will close out the series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for noon.
