VISTA, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay posted the low team round of the day with a 298 to vault to a third place finish at the Fujikura Invitational Tuesday at Shadowridge Golf Club.

Freshman Mia Golovich (Murrieta Mesa HS) eagled the 18th hole as part of her team-low 71 Tuesday to lead the Otter surge. Golovich was one of four Otters to earn Top 25 finishes for the 54–hole event.

Led by Golovich's red number, the Otters moved up four spots in the final round. Host Cal State San Marcos won the team title at 901. The University of Texas, Tyler placed second at 908 followed by CSUMB (916), Biola (919) and Cal State East Bay (924) rounding out the Top 5.

Junior Cathy Tong (Newport Harbor HS) was CSUMB's top finisher in 13th place at plus–13 for the tournament. Fellow juniors Madi Blanc (Oakdale HS) and Tilda Kvarnrud tied for 20th at plus–15.

Madison Murr of San Marcos was the only player to finish tournament play in the red, earning a 5–stroke victory over UT–Tyler's Karina Duran at 1–under 215.

"We really played well today. We didn't close as well as we would have liked, but overall it was a very solid tournament," said CSUMB Head Coach Jim Ragan. "It was a true team effort this week with Mia bouncing back from day one and playing great today! We are looking forward to our next event in a few days."

The Otters return to the Peninsula to play in the Patriot Invitational Mar. 18–19 at Poppy Hills.
