SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team opened its season with an 84-54 loss against Menlo College on Friday at the Kelp Bed. The game was the first of two on the day at the CCAA/PacWest Crossover.
 
Senior Sha'nece Garrett recorded her second career double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 boards. She added three steals to her stat line.
 
Ella Doherty scored a team-high 12 points in her Otter debut and Jayden McNeal added 10 to round out the CSUMB double-digit scorers.
 
The Otters posted their most efficient quarter in the fourth, shooting 9-of-12 (75-percent) from the floor, outscoring Menlo, 29-18 in the frame.
 
CSUMB will continue the CCAA/PacWest Crossover tomorrow against Academy of Art. First tip is scheduled for 11 a.m.
